Evening Event
Renoir: Landscapes and More

Wednesday 7 March, 6.30 - 8pm
Sainsbury Wing Conference Room 1
Kathleen Adler

We think of Renoir as a painter of people, especially of voluptuous women.

The exhibition 'Renoir Landscapes 1865-1883' reveals an artist who was concerned with developing various ways of making marks to suggest trees, clouds or water, but never to delineate them precisely - a truly Impressionistic engagement with landscapes, light and colour.

The exhibition culminates with the landscapes Renoir painted in North Africa, where he was dazzled by the brilliance of the light, and those made in Italy. We will look at the landscapes and their relationship to the rest of Renoir's painting practice in this informal evening event.

Tickets: £18/£15 concessions, includes wine and refreshments

fancy it ?

It is very interesting exhibition. I love Renoir. Years ago I saw an exhibition on all impressionists that was traveling in USA and Canada. I saw it in Toronto. It was wonderful. I think it was around 1990.  Smiley
