"This week's Drama on 3 was produced by Nicolas Soames and was an Ukemi production for BBC Radio 3. Next Sunday evening at the same time Drama on 3 takes a headlong plunge into the sea narratives of Alfred, Lord Tennyson centered around his most popular work Enoch Arden."

I just love these kind of things. Grin

Blake was great, bit bonkers, going on about spirits, singing hymns etc. etc.

GREAT STUFF Smiley

That's the first time I've listened to a drama on Radio 3 (I've listened to a few on R4 over the years).

I thought it was rather well done. Ackroyd took a perhaps too-obvious incident in Blake's life, but the incident itself was actually... er... incidental  Wink It gave Ackroyd a good base on which to hang an exploration of Blake's philosophy. A lot of the words put into Blake's mouth came directly from his writing, his letters and nottebooks, and I could imagine him actually saying such things to his acquaintances (who would no doubt edge slowly away... yes, Blake was a bit bonkers  Grin )

I liked the characterisation of Catherine, who I've always thought must have been a remarkable woman.

The Words and Music which followed it was a bit of a mixed bag. I found it too eclectic, with the jump between styles quite jarring. I liked some of it but there wasn't enough of any one thing for me to get my teeth into. Is that the normal format for the programme? (I have never listened to it before.)

I always listen to The Essay via the listen again option. Remember: when you live in a country within the Central European Time zone the programme starts at twelve! Sad

Listened lastnight and it was great, will try listen again to the other ones though tom's accent was a bit duff sometimes, he kept saying BARON instead of BYRON
