I am going to get a mini disc recorder from ebay and record to it from my fm radio, seems a good way to record fm as tapes are not that long and seem to wear out or play up.

Does anyone else do this ?

Hi Mi Lord,

I've never used mini-discs. I just use my PC and transfer to CD so that I can listen to the programmes later in the car, or in the lounge when I get time to myself - which at the moment is only mornings.

I LOVE fm and alas, have no home pc, dab to sd card would be ideal if it were not for the low bit rate.

I like to record a few things to listen to, when radio 3 are playing things I do not like, and to 'listen again' to something of particular interest.

On consideration, going to learn flatmates sky recorder box functions, the radio 3 is from satellite BUT the super duper box amplifier thingy he has and top speakers offset some of the lower than fm bitrate and i mainly just record talky programs anyways.

Ho!.  I've got a couple of Sony mains mini disc recorders and a hand sized portable.  I've had excellent results recording from FM via a high quality outside aerial and have also put my private recordings on to disc with good results.  My collection of LPs (some discarded now) is also on mini discs and have transferred superbly.  I find the mini disc with it's easy storage (I have nearly 1200 now) and editing ability to be excellent - and large enough not to be fiddly.  Us 109 year olds need things to be simple.  My CD collection hasn't grown much over the last few years.
Cheers.

Wish you had mentioned this when I was toying with the idea of going dab for the recording abilities, FM rules OK Smiley
