Greetings, everyone.

I have as my "proper" CD player a Linn Classik (world's most expensive clock-radio, apparently!), which I play either through big speakers or through good Sennheiser cans.

But, to be honest, I get just as much listening pleasure (I'm a musician rather than a hi-fi buff) from my Sony Discman, which was just about top of their range when I bought it 8 or 9 years ago, again with Sennheiser's best ear-buds.

What's the very best Discman-type portable?  I can't find a straight answer, or even a clear list of recommendations, anywhere on the web, despite a lot of looking.

Any suggestions gratefully recived.

I'm not up to date with discmans, having gone the ipod route. I can't recommend this invention highly enough. Applelossless gives CD quality sound, but AAC recording (much more compressed) gives me excellent sound - esp with good phones, I use etymotic. Plus I have 5, 500 tracks at my disposal wherever I am.

However, I have always found that information about portables is always very poor. But as with most things the more you pay the better it gets. Good luck.

Thaks, Adam, I'll explore.  It's probably time for me to stagger into the 21st century!
