Does anyone know of an up to date book on the music of the French Baroque?

French Baroque Music: From Beaujoyeulx to Rameau by J R Anthony seems to be cited in so many places but it's quite a few years old and research moves so quickly now that I wonder if there is something more recent.

Thanks

The literature on French baroque music in English is quite limited, and Anthony is still as far as I know the best general introduction, though French Baroque Opera: A Reader edited by Caroline Wood and Graham Sadler (Ashgate 2000, ISBN 1-84014-241-3) is an excellent source of information on that subject.

Anthony is the only book I've read - there is a Grove book on French composers as well, but that's pretty elementary. I think there might be some other books on Rameau in particular, but I don't know any further details. What would anyone recommend that's in French?

My go-to guy is Davitt Moroney, but he hasn't written a book as far as I know.

If you're ever in a hurry, don't mention the Couperins or d'Anglebert or Dandrieu in his presence, or you'll be caught in his fascinating flights of fancy like a deer in headlights.

Thanks to all who have replied so far.

My French is not really up to reading about 17th and 18th century musical forms so it looks as if I'll be sticking with the Anthony book as an overview - at least it's still in print!
