I recall Michael removed the 'remove' facility from members when opilec and Ian were encouraging M&S members to do so at r3ok. No doubt the facility will be returned at a later date.

Now, I don't actually recall opilec encouraging others to delete their posts, either here or at the M&S site.

IGI, and oplilec whose reply I've just seen, yes to be fair to opilec he SAID he was not encouraging deleting posts

http://musicandsociety.myforum365.com/index.php?topic=17.msg284#msg284

But to say that he WAS deleting them was likely to encourage others to do the same, and indeed did, but some folks are easily influenced.

And I should add that later opilec advised people to copy and paste

John, I advised people to copy and paste if they wanted to move the substance of their posts for continuation at M&S, not as any form of protest.

It wasn't my intention to encourage other 'folks' to do the same, tacitly or otherwise. I've never imagined any contributors to this board to be 'easily influenced', least of all by me!  Wink

And there I very much hope we can let the matter rest.

Thanks, RM! I'll be doing my best to keep a low profile!

And yes opilec, I too have just realised that you have returned.

Thank you for your apology above, and I too apologise for bringing up the subject again, maybe it can be closed now as we move on.

Regards,

for continuation at M&S,
Is that the one that's two doors down from Woolies, opposite TopShop?

Trying to keep up, here.

Can we re-enable the deletion of posts?

Making deletion impossible does not prevent people from erasing the content of their post, so I see little reason to disallow the complete floccipaucinihilipilification should Members desire to do so.

Turfan,

Although we appreciate your suggestion, this is not a matter that you can bring up and expect immediate action on.

The facility to remove posts was disabled for a reason, and as such, isn't something that will 'just' be ammended.

Keep your ears open for news on the matter.

Sorry, didn't expect 'immediate action' - just some kind of response from somebody somewhere. There wasn't a peep so I was a little mystified.

Naturally I don't run the board or make any decisions, nor do I expect to. And whatever decision is made I will respect.

Well, just to be sociable.

I have only used the delete button once, when someone no longer active here immediately modified his previous post in response to my message, making my comments meaningless.

Since then I realise I can go in and Modify the text, if need be deleting the whole lot.  In which case I think it is considerate to put in text to the effect that I have deleted something.

To remove the text with no explanation is unfair on others who may try to follow the thread later.

So, I suggest we don't need the delete button.

I only mention since opinions were canvassed.

That sounds reasonable, Don. In fact this whole discussion I want to delete now come to think of it.  Wink
