We see no sign that any one is aware of this message-board's having been unreachable for the past six hours. Music and Society was equally unreachable. Much the same thing happened about a week ago. All sites other than "myforum365" were normal. Surely some one else must have noticed something?

We did though during that period of deprivation find a funny link which was still working at full speed, but without pictures: http://r3ok.myforum365.com/index.php?;wap2

Thank you Mr Grew - I shall be bookmarking THAT link - and may end up using it in preference to the normal one! (At least I may do so when I don't want to post anything! Grin)

Indeed, who knows what staggering developments in the world of classical music may have slipped through that 6-hour chink?

For myself, I spent three of them listening to live classical music, and consider the time greatly well-spent Smiley

I had exactly the same problem.

Hey guys,

It was brought to my attention yesterday that the board was experiencing some issues.

As I only discovered this after the event, I didn't think it of the utmost importance to discuss it as yet.  But it does bring up some issues.

Some of you may remember issues regarding the myforum365 boards some time back, and my suggestions of hosting the board for ourselves.  I won't go into that discussion again, but think it is probably time now that we look into alternative possibilites for the hosting of these boards, and the ability for us to have FULL backups.

In the next few weeks I will be looking into hosting these type of boards for ourselves, and report back with the results.

Mort contacted me at home yesterday to ask if I was having problems with the board and I was of course - like everyone else.

However, the day before that, I was having the same difficulty accessing the Beeb's boards so I just think it might be something we have to take in our stride occasionally.  It wasn't for too long in either case.

I had problems earlier in the week (New Year's Eve? New Year's Day?) which I know a few other people also experienced, but that was the first time for some months. I hope this isn't the start of a more regular 'go-slow'...

I've had problems for the last 10 days or so, I thought it might have been site maintenance.

I use a couple of forums powered by vBulletin and very good they are.  One nice feature is you can go to new posts and place your cursor and be able to read without clicking on it.  An Owner License costs $160 which is not a lot

This morning at 07:30am Moscow Time (04:30am London Time) the board is crawling along and a page takes 15 minutes to load Sad  Other UK sites (BBC, Observer, IndependentOnSunday) are working normally, so it seems that the board server is experiencing some "severe difficulties" Sad

This morning at 07:30 Moscow Time (04:30 London) the forum was barely responding, and pages were taking 15 mins each to load Sad

There's clearly a server-side problem here Sad
