I can't quite understand why my page doesn't show recent posts and unread posts at the top. Is there a way of putting this link there?
It would be helpful  Grin

A,

Look at the top right hand corner of this page.

Is there a + sign next to the date?

Click it.

OK now?

"Show new replies to your posts" has a problem.  I've had this happen before.

Last night at 20.21 I posted a message on NMC.  Here it is:  http://r3ok.myforum365.com/index.php?topic=112.msg122945#msg122945

Later, at 22.25 I posted this:  http://r3ok.myforum365.com/index.php?topic=415.msg122968#msg122968

But after I posted it, my "Show new replies to your posts" did not show anything.

This morning, NMC was in my "Show new replies to your posts" list.  When I clicked on to it, it took me to Martle's post:  http://r3ok.myforum365.com/index.php?topic=112.msg122990#msg122990

It completely missed out IGI's post just before.

What is going on?

IGI posted his at 20.24 yesterday.  Why didn't it show on my 'new replies'?

Hi Tommo,

I've seen the same problem too, particularly on NMC where we get can get quick replies. 'New replies' means a reply on a thread that you haven't visited since the reply was posted.  And it means ALL subsequent postings on any thread. When such a reply/thread is NOT on your list it may depend when/how long you stayed with the thread open, and the system may think you've seen the reply (even without refreshing).

When you look at your list you will see the latest message in the right hand column, NOT the first reply, ALL subsequent replies are regarded as replies to your posting, so when you click for the last message you need to scroll back for the first reply.

The list is not useful to me, it's just a list of threads that I've posted on and someone has posted since, even threads I last posted on MONTHS ago like What's burning? that I won't be looking at.

For me the Show unread posts... is the most useful, because some threads listed that I don't frequent will disappear from the list when I logout.

Yeah, but my set up is so I go back to the message index after every post I submit.  SO havng posted, I hadn't stayed in that thread.

Understood.  But I was pressing the little blue oval with 'new' in it.

NMC didn't appear in that either, until martle posted.

Mine too. I often find (although it seems to happen more often on Music & Society than here on r3ok) that 'New replies ...' seems skip the first post after my own last post on a thread. No idea why - it does seem to be when the post is within 4 or 5 minutes after mine, but as Tommo says, it's not because I've stayed on the thread.

Hmmm, yes it seems to be a problem with a thread one has just posted on. It's why we get all overlapped over at NMC  Undecided

Erm, Tommo,

Erm, the new version of the SMF may not have that, Erm, problem, but Erm, anyway Erm, they won't fix it on our, Erm, free version.

Erm, ok.

"You get what you pay for", only in our case, you get a lot more than what we pay!
