So - I have no "unread posts since last visit". Visiting specific topics reveals that I have several unread posts. Why does this happen ?

May be the unread posts are valid only for a day? I noticed it and this is what I decided.

Unread posts since last visit is exactly that - things that were posted between you last logging out and now.

Posts that you left unread when you last logged out do appear as 'new' when you visit the individual boards.

I tend to use unread replies, then unread posts since last visit, then have a trawl through each board occasionally to catch up.

to autoharp and others,

Just to make a couple of points of clarity (?)  Smiley

'Unread posts since last visit' were posted since the last time you logged out, and each link will take you to the last post in the relevant thread, so you might need to scroll up a thread to see other 'unread posts'.

Now, you work your way through the list reading those of interest, probably skip others. If you log out suddenly then those 'unread skipped' posts will NOT appear in the list next time you log in. So yes, some 'unread' posts will not appear in the new list.

Also be aware that the list of 'unread posts' can extend to more than one page; best to scroll down and click on 2 if there's 2 pages as they are the older unread posts, otherwise you will lose them and they won't appear next time.

Also while browsing if you don't visit or re-visit the 'unread posts' list and then suddenly log out you will lose that list and any new additions that might have appeared. They will not appear again, so yes, again, some 'unread' posts will not appear next time you log in.

Does that make sense?  Cheesy
