At your service always, I've noticed some posters like to illustrate their messages with appropriate images and pictures, something we couldn't do at CMoR3.

To avoid the file size of this site rapidly increasing, rather than upload images it is preferable to LINK to them. Some of you already have places to LINK to, I can see, but I expect some do not.

So, as with the new Smileys, we have an R3boards Gallery and I've put together one already, the R3boards Gallery of Composers (29 of them!) just as an illustration of what you can add to messages.

http://s149.photobucket.com/albums/s74/r3boards/R3composers/

If you have IE7 you can open that page as another tab so the images are right next to you, so to speak.

Look for the composer of your choice and click the choice with IMG thingy and paste that in your message like this :

If you have other composers you want to add to the Gallery of Composers then you need to logon to that site

Name: r3boards

Password: radio3

and then look for the upload thingy and, well, if you get that far you'll work out the rest.

When you are logged in you can create a New Folder e.g. operastars or musicians or conductors or just a gallery for benedetti or karajan (keep it one word) and of course anyone can access those images and add to them.

Keep your images to a size that won't distort our message pages, maybe 400 wide max, 400 tall max.

Rightho, lets not start on the wrong foot: tabs are only new to MS IE7, and IE7 is a BIG download.  If there is anyone with IE6 who would like tabs, get Opera (where they probably started) or Firefox instead, they are practical downloads even for dial-up.  Good browsers, too.

Thank you.

Or those with versions of IE earlier than 7 can just right-click on the link and select "Open in New Window". In fact, those with IE7 might prefer to do the same as it's far more convenient (in my opinion)!

Just a reminder for newbies.

Posters here like to illustrate their messages with appropriate images and pictures, something we couldn't do at CMoR3.

To avoid the file size of this site rapidly increasing, rather than paste/upload images it is preferable to LINK to them. Some of you already have places to LINK to, some may not.

So at the same places as you'll find our smileys, you can store photos/images:

http://s149.photobucket.com/albums/s74/r3boards/R3composers/

If you have your own photos then you need to logon to that site

Name: r3boards

Password: radio3

and then look for the upload thingy and, well, if you get that far you'll work out the rest.

You can paste a photo into your message like this :

- use the quote button to see how the [IMG] function is used.

Keep your images to a size that won't distort our message pages, maybe 400 wide max, 400 tall max.

Can you explain how to make picture smaller. Some times pictures from google images are too big. How does one make them smaller. Or is it too difficult?

t-p,

To make pictures smaller you can save to you own PC and then shrink it (using Msoft Pint or something esle). Then put the image in Photobucket.

Also if your photo is in Photobucket you can login there and 'edit' either to avatar size  100 x 75 or to size 160 x120, I just shrunk that photo of Elgar to 160 x 120 see it changed in message above.

160 x 120 is not useful is your original image is square.

Something I've just found: you can indeed change the displayed size of an image even if you just link to it.

I once posted this image:

It's too big. So in the first [ img ] square brackets you can add for example 'width=160 height=584' and hey presto:

Or of course:

You can find the pixel size an image already has by right-clicking and selecting Properties.

But USE PREVIEW before you post! Wink

You can make a thumbnail a link eg

Click on the image to see a larger version

The way you do it is:

(url=url-of-image)(img width=100)url-of-image(/img)(/url)

with round brackets replaced by square ones and url-of-image replaced by the actual url of your picture.

Of course you don't have to use width=100, you can make the thumbnail bigger if you want.

If you have a vertical picture, it's often best to use height= instead of width=

This is one of my pictures of the eclipse on 3/3, soon after totality had ended.

I think we're going to need an abbreviation for "click on the image to see a larger version".

My vote goes to COTITSALV.
