I've just posted another of my Angus pics with no trouble whatsoever: indeed, Photobucket loaded it faster than it usually does.

Might be a cookie problem, you may be able to work out which cookie relates to Photobucket and delete it (you could just use your web browser's delete all cookies function, but then you'd have to log back in to all messageboards such as this one and so on, so that might be more hassle than it's worth).

This message is used to keep our latest Photobucket information With all the archiving going on elsewhere thought I had better preserve our current image gallery Our old photobucket gallery at http://s149.photobucket.com/albums/s74/r3boards/or r3boards photobucketis now archived. I've just changed the password. All the images are still intact and can be copied, downloaded, pasted, without the password. They just can't be removed so all the links from this forum remain ok. I've set up another photobucket site to use from today for new images: The new r3okforum photobucket site is at: http://s216.photobucket.com/albums/cc69/r3okforum/account details are login r3okforum password radio3ktmnRegards to all, John W

John, I am a complete klutz with this stuff, so please excuse a turnip-crunching simpleton's questions...
... is photobucket some kind of "dumping area" where we can upload images not currently on the net, so that they can then be linked and used in messages? Or have I got the wrong end of the turnip?

Reiner, Photobucket is essentially 'your photo album on the net' where family and friends can share photos without e-mailing them to each other. If you want to keep/print any you download them, use edit, full size and then click-save-as, for example. Clearly they are popular on messageboards too as in one click you copy the [IMG ]http://option and paste that on a message here, or the http option for your avatar here. Look at this one on our new photoalbum. I thought at first it was John Barbirolli asking an embarressed Janet Baker for a dance but I guess he has just said to her 'Good show' after a rehearsal or recording. Our combined knowledge/search might be able to date that photo! John W

In theory you should only post your own pictures to flickr or photobucket but I find them useful as a place to upload pictures that won't allow you to hotlink to them on a forum. Aren't I naughty? The advantage of flickr is that you get several sizes of image, including the full size. Photobucket shrinks big originals. I think both probably have some kind of limit as to how much you can upload each month but I don't know what these are. It will only affect you if you want to upload a lot of pix and then you can always pay for more space eg if you're a pro.

Aren't I naughty? .... Photobucket shrinks big originals. Andy, I think Photobucket has been improved/enhanced. It gives you tools to search other photobuckets and save THEIR images directly to YOUR photobucket (one at a time). And when you select an image you can view full size, re-size, rotate etc John W

flickr has an uploader which I've just installed on my machine - it allows you to drag and drop pictures onto it so making uploading pretty easy. It also said at the bottom of it that I have no monthly upload limit! Here are 2 I took earlier today, near where a massive new hospital is being built in Brum, which I've uploaded to flickr. If you click on either you'll get the original sized picture which is 2816x2112 in each case.

Andy, thanks, I see what you mean, Photobucket max is 1024 x 768 That'll be the new Queen Elizabeth then? John Barbirolli ....... Janet Baker ...... I guess he has just said to her 'Good show' after a rehearsal or recording.
Our combined knowledge/search might be able to date that photo!
I expect it's when they recorded Elgar's Sea Pictures for HMV in 1965, I have that vinyl. They also recorded Dream of Gerontius same year and I also have that box, a big orchestra photo in the book but can't see Dame Janet, what she's wearing; also Mahler songs in 1970, but I'm going to go for Sea Pictures for that photo
