I don't think too many folk on here subscribe to or read the BBC Music Magazine. I mentioned on another thread that they have stopped publishing the Official Classical Chart which was recently being swamped by the likes of Mario Lanza, Pavarotti, Alfie Boe, Juan Diego Florez and an entry from Katherine Jenkins, with only the occasional look in for LSO, Bouremouth SO, James Gilchrist, Ian Bostridge and other artists that folks on HERE might purchase.

So what have BBC MM published this month? The 'chart' from one specialist shop, and here it is:
(apologies to small monitors who might have images above each other)

Before Mr Grew arrives, John, perhaps you'd like to reconsider the 'e' on the end of 'artiste': Church, Jenkins et al could certainly qualify for 'artiste' status (professional entertainers), but the majority of performers on this list are surely artists rather than artistes? And not all that long ago, didn't BBMM always use to select specialist retailers for its "Bestseller List"? I don't have any old editions to hand, but I seem to remember this quite clearly.

(Perhaps I ought to duplicate this entry in "Pedants' Corner".....)

Thanks Ron I'll go with your preference for 'artists'.

You are probably correct about the earlier charts in BBCMM. A few weeks ago while 'tidying' up the garage I couldn't find my early editions of BBCMM from ~1993-96 and can only conclude that I dumped them though I don't recall actually doing that Undecided

I suppose this thread is for discussion of any of the CDs in the shop chart, if anyone has bought any of them?
