Over at TOP a few of us have been discussing the most recent remastering of the Ozawa/Toronto Turnagalīla. This thread is intended to be used for posting links to brief extracts from that, and comparative recordings of the work, for the purposes of assessing the quality of the remastering and any distortion introduced in the process.

Please restrict the format of uploaded files to WAV, FLAC or APE, (i.e. lossless only).

To start with, here is the tam tam blow at 19 seconds in, already referred to at TOP.

[For anyone new to the game, the blue "here" is a link. Just click on it and follow the instructions for downloading the sample.

And here is the same section from the earlier remastering (French RCA double album), and Rosbaud (1951) on Wergo.

Oh, and for good measure, the horrible artificial reverberation of the first CD issue of the 1961 Le Roux recording.

Here is Rattle.
The tam tam sounds very tame. I hope I did this right. I'm still looking for my Previn CD. I found the LP though!

Here is another copy of the same performance - this time done using EAC. I don't think it sounds any different, but there were no errors in the encoding.
