Right, so they've "hidden" Draco's first post about CE from Worcester on the other place. "For a decision whether it contravenes the House Rules" in some way." The replies are, at present, still there.
If it doesn't come back pretty sharpish and they try to block these discussions, I for one am going to be extremely annoyed. If it's a public fight they want, they can have it: the guns are loaded and ready to fire.

Simon, I suggest you write this directly to FEEDBACK, who are actively look for a petard on which to hoist Roger Wright at the moment?
To me it's abundantly apparent that the war has already been lost, and it's only going to be through reparations.
The end of discussion-areas for New Music, Early Music, Opera, or even The Proms makes it perfectly clear that Wrecker Wright and his pirate crew no longer feel any need to discuss anything with anyone. We failed to fall on our knees with gratitude for A Bach Christmas, Ring-In-A-Day or The Tchaikovsky Experience, and Roger Wright is such a pathetic and spineless individual that he views Messageboards as being a place where he is supposed to be lavished with unguent oils, frankinsence & myrrh, and not have to answer any impertinent questions.
Failing FEEDBACK, try the BBC Trust - because this stupid wally is clearly in breach of his remit.

If anyone would like to help, we will need a winding sheet, and enough myrrh to preserve an adult male when we're finished.

It's a little early to jump to conclusions on the proms messageboard, it's generally only been available from the announcement of the season's programme until a few weeks after the end of the season. This time it lasted quite a bit longer, for no appraent reason, and I think it has already been mentioned as a candidate for return (presumably, again, once the season is announced in a couple of month's time).

We shall fight them in the Vestry... we shall fight them in the Transept... we shall fight in the organ-lofts and parish rooms... we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this Messageboard or a large part of it were moderated by little whippersnappers from R2, then the Auntie beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the BBC Trust, would carry on the struggle, until the Broadcasting Ombudsman, with all his power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old Messageboard

I hesitate to post elsewhere, but I've had a short email today from a friend in the cathedral "Establishment" circuit. It appears that the persuasive voices of some respected and influential musical turtles have been not only heard but also listened to in various part of the land, notably around Broadcasting House. The result is that comments about CE will not be deemed off-topic and that there may even, shortly, be somewhere "official" to post about it. If this proves to be so, then credit due, along with thanks, I think, to the BBC. Hostilities suspended!

Hi T-P
CE - "Church Of England". It's the same thing you have named as "Church Of Ireland". In England it is the official religion (there is no separation of Church & State as in some other countries - rather the opposite, it is considered beneficial that they are united), and the official Head of the Church Of England is the Queen herself. (This has been part of the controversy regarding the remarriage of Prince Charles, since he will inherit this role if/when he inherits the throne. Not everyone in the Church of England is supportive of his ecumenical views... or the way in which his marriage to Princess Diana ended).

Honest! t-p, reiner is having you on, or being uncharacteristically forgetfull. CE refers to 'Chral Evensong', a R3 programme which is the subject of much debate at the moment...

What about FHS abreviation and DBD. I know DIY and NHI, but we are not building anything and we are not talking about health. I love this telephone jargon. Is there a dictionary of telephone jargon?

Good idea, TP. I'm one of those who doesn't understand these abbreviations and who can't be bothered to look them up. Perhaps Simon should give us a quick lesson ! Common Era ? Civil Engineer ? Conformite Europeene ? Clint Eastwood ?
