There are we understand among the Membership a good many buffers of long standing. We thought of them when in our random ranging of the Inter-net to-day we came across this seventy-two-minute war-time semi-documentary film: Battle for Music.

It incorporates we read "Constant Lambert, Adrian Boult and Dr. Malcolm Sargent amongst the main conductors, and two pianists: Eileen Joyce [Grieg] and Benno Moisewitsch [Rachmaninoff]," with the players of the London Philharmonic Orchestra as the principal "actors."

The city is a process which always veers away from the form envisaged and desired, ... whose revenge upon its architects and planners undoes every dream of mastery. It is [also] one of the sites where Dasein is assigned the impossible task of putting right what can never be put right. - Rob Lapsley
