Does anyone know of any available recordings of music by John Luke Rose?  I posted a message on the R3 'Breakfast' board about a week ago, but it got no replies.  About 20 years ago I heard snippets of his violin concerto playing on a radio (R3, or course) on a railway station, but have never seen it (or any other of Rose's works) billed in the 'Radio Times' since.

Hmmm... Only 24 results on Google. We're really talking about a unknown composer here! Undecided

I know - I'm almost certain that a couple of years ago I googled him and found some CDs.  There don't appear to be any, now.

Bit late replying  Grin but I've only just spotted this.

I've actually got a recording on cassette of John Luke Rose's Violin Concerto made off Radio 3:

John Luke Rose: Violin Concerto
Dennis Simons/BBC PO/Bryden Thomson  23/8/87

This is presumably the broadcast that 464 metres heard.

23/8/87
... proving 'about 20 years ago' to be uncannily accurate!

I'd PM 464 if you're offering him a copy, Andy - he doesn't seem to log on all that often and he's mentioned this several times, I'm sure he'd hate to miss your post.

Yes, that's the one - it was a Sunday afternoon.  It must have made an impression on me because it's on my 'to listen' list, dated 23/8/87.
