Helen Callus' York Bowen Viola Concerto

Yum Yum - there's some great Howells on the same disc.

Now Bax Harp Quintet - reminded of it by last night's Wigmore.  Like Bax.

Messiaen, Des Canyons aux Etoiles, (Constant / Loriod) - from the old Erato LPs, which really do sound much better than the CD mastering. I like all of this work, but especially the pieces for piano solo.

Now spinning here is some tango music on an unfortunately short loop. So I'm hearing this track for the fifth or sixth time. That's what comes of waffling in a bar...

As in, Popova and see me sometime?

I'm finding beer in the mouth and waffle in the fingers more effective.

Erm, is that a) said from experience, b) rumour mongering, or c) an offer?

Listening to some music by Scelsi after looking at the thread in the new music sub-board.

James Dillon - Vernal Showers.

String trios by Ferneyhough and Finnissy.

String trios by Ferneyhough and Finnissy.

Both fantastic, I think.  The Ferneyhough really came alive for me once I saw it live -- quite a special and intimate piece.

For me ... the disc "Rariora & Marginalia" by the Rare Fruits Council (on naive).  Works by Boeddecker, Westhoff, Bovicelli, Muffat, and Bertali.
