Haydn - Die Schopfung

Gabriel : Genia Kuhmaier, soprano
Uriel : Toby Spence, tenor
Raphael : Dietrisch Henschel, basse
Adam : Marcus Werba, basse
Eva : Sophie Karthauser, soprano

Choeur et Orchestre
Les Arts Florissants
Dir. : William Christie

Toby Spence has a very odd voice in the opening recit. - anyone know him?
christies view is wonderful - very fast, and the choral singing is wonderful.

It's Stravinsky, and you're all big wet girls' blouses if you think otherwise.  Cool
Hear, hear. And as Marters points out, I.S. has his very own emoticon to prove it

Who else can you say that about? Eh? Eh?

[Oh, hmm, yes, all right, Stockhausen, when asked what his favorite sound was, Shocked. I take it all back.]

'I'm going back to New Orleans to wear that ball and chain...'

Isn't that an aria from Joan of Arc?

I would normally have been spinning something at about this time but I discover from another thread that CDs are commodities and so I've sent them all back. I am now making my own entertainment.

I've had enough of entertaining myself today, so I'm allowing Ms Berberian to do the honours; 3 Kurt Weill songs in arrangements by Berio. Lawks, she could teach all these crossover artists a thing or two thousand...

Stravinsky Requiem Canticles

Robert Craft's recording - totally unreal, but wonderful.

What a great piece.

xyzzzz__: is that the Holliger disc on Philips? If so could you maybe at some point have a careful check of the programme notes while listening? I have a feeling that on my copy at least two of the concertos are the wrong way round...
