Am still waiting for a copy of that new Brautigam recording from hmv.com, IGI.

Meanwhile, this looks dangerously tempting:

I will almost certainly be buying that one. *drool*

I simply adore that repertoire, and at one stage was seriously considering changing my Masters degree into a musicology specialisation on the Codex Chantilly.

The city is a process which always veers away from the form envisaged and desired, ... whose revenge upon its architects and planners undoes every dream of mastery. It is [also] one of the sites where Dasein is assigned the impossible task of putting right what can never be put right. - Rob Lapsley

Well, AUD/USD conversion rate is currently pretty good (although not as good as it was a couple of months ago, and I'm prepared to go without my morning coffee for a while in order to get that particular book. But surely $350 equal to about £2.50? I know that cost of living is a bit harsh over there, but still... Wink

Actually, my rather slow mathematics has just informed me that my morning coffee will have to be foregone for precisely 100 days. It seems that musical enlightenment will have to wait. Roll Eyes

The credit card is itchy, though.

A tempting disc from the Hallé, although MDT's predicted release of 26/9/08 is looking a little premature; HMV have it listed for 3rd November. The concerts got very good reviews and I've really enjoyed other Elgarian offerings from Elder.

Two Messiaen set coming up on the Decca label:

4780352 and 4780353.

The second set includes Robert Sherlaw Johnson's "Catalogue d'oiseaux" and Ogden's " Vingt regards sur l'Enfant-Jesus".

I think I already have most, if not all, the recordings on the first set, so I think I will give that a miss.

[No sign of them on hmv.com as yet, but they are shown on the Japanese HMV site, and with more detail than on the crotchet link.

I love "20 of peach fuzz look into Jesus" and "KONSERUTO to the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Crossbow" in the automatic translation from the Japanese. Wink ]

"KONSERUTO to the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Crossbow"
The Japanese issue of a DG disc featuring Kremer, Maisky and Argerich bore in big letters on the front: TORIOS. Very sweet. I suppose at least they didn't spell it TORIOSU.

While browsing in a 2nd hand bookshop with Ron three weekends ago (really that long ago already?), I found a number of volumes of Musica Brittanica for around £30 each. While I've been deliberately avoiding the shop ever since, it's been gnawing away at me. I'd really like to own them and they would look great in my office... Now I'm full time I could probably afford it without that having to cost me my fish ration, or the pair of boots I've been cautiously eyeing up... Should I buy them?
