I'm listening too!  Can't place the accent though  Huh  Are you German tinners?

Enjoyed it, very informative.

Oldham, Anty! Oldham!

Very well done, that man. Informative, yes - and eloquent. You're a natural, tinners.

I enjoyed it too, and now can say authoritative things about the Italian avant-garde, should anyone care to listen Grin I was fascinated to hear tinners, who didn't sound a bit as I expected. Such a soft velvety voice! I knew it was Oldham, and I think I could probably have placed the voice/accent within that general area - I'm rather good at that usually.

Well done, tinners! You didn't sound nervous, and you got your 35 minutes, I think. Was anything cut?

Excellent stuff, tinners. Measured and authoritative and with an enviable ability to talk in actual sentences and paragraphs. You'll be back Smiley. Now counting my pennies to see if I can justify buying the Sciarrino which you have got me quite excited about.

No cuts at all (except things I took a second go at when we recorded and which I expected them to tidy up - but there weren't too many of those, most of what you heard was recorded in a single take Smiley). I'm very happy, except with my accent, which sounded to me like a really really bad attempt at Southern vowels. Everyone else seems to think I have a nice velvety voice though, so I suppose I should concentrate on the positives.

Anyway, I don't think I sounded waffly at all and I seemed to make some reasonably intelligent points, which is the main thing.

Thanks everyone for listening. Grin Kiss Kiss

Edit: Just seen Milly's and George's too. Thanks! Smiley

tinners, I can recognise some Lancashire accents immediately like Salford or Bury but if that is an Oldham accent it is the poshest Lancashire accent I have ever heard!  Cheesy  (No offence to you Milly!) You do indeed have a rather lovely voice.  The first of many invitations to CDR I think.

For those who missed it the start time was 2:12 into the programme

Excellent stuff, tinners: authoritative and relaxed, and full of information about music about which I personally know next to nothing.  I'll probably LA as I heard it in less than ideal circumstances (on my phone, in Hove Tesco  Sad), but I'll certainly want to find out more about Scelsi and Sciarrino.

I thought the "dark side of Mendelssohn" piece was terrific; it caused a distinct snork in the vicinity of the in-store bakery.

At every one of these [classical] concerts in England you will find rows of weary people who are there, not because they really like classical music, but because they think they ought to like it. (Shaw, Don Juan in Hell)

If that was more or less a single take, I'm well impressed. That's not easy to do.

For some reason I didn't expect you to sound so relaxed, probably because most academically bright people I know don't.

in Hove Tesco...  ...Scelsi and Sciarrino.

That has just got to be a first.

No offence to me?  Huh  I don't have a Lancashire accent.  I'm from Lincoln.  Smiley  Anyway I regard myself as reasonably accent-less having lived North, South, East and West and both families originate from the London area. I do tend to pick up the accent of, not only where I am, but also who I'm with, very quickly and may not notice.  It's embarrassing at times, especially with foreign nationals with whom I speak pidgin-english as well after about 10 minutes.  Grin

Nice work Mr Now. I loathe that Gervasoni piece though (and all the others of his that I've heard, as it happens). It seems to follow me everywhere.

As for the voice, it's the first time I've noticed a distinct similarity to that of the young Michael Finnissy.

Before bedtime I am having a listen to the Italian avant-garde broadcast on iPlayer.

A fine selection of works. Had me riveted.

After much faffing around trying to re-install Real player which appeared to have gone AWOL, I finally managed to listen to tinners earlier. Until I had to 'pause' him and then found the sound had gone when i 'un-paused' him Angry I'll try again later. However I was suitably impressed with what I did hear. A job well done, tinners. Seeing that there have been no howls of outrage at TOP about voice, accent, microphone technique, what colour your hair might be etc., then I'd say you were a raging success! Wink Full marks Kiss
