Did anyone catch the Janáček piano sonata on 3 this morning at about 9.15?  I thought it was really beautiful but I can't remember the pianist - it might have been Schiff or something like that?  If anyone has more details or other recommendations I'd be really grateful.

Thanks  Smiley

Afterword: I'm guessing András Schiff - just had another search on Google.

Ruby, according to the Playlist, in which I trust implicity Wink, it was Schiff.

Playlist?  That sounds like a useful thing I ought to know about, and have clearly missed something here!  Embarrassed

It's not the most intuitive site in the world is it?  They seem to have paid someone to cleverly hide all the useful bits.

Fortunately it's pay day today so I can forgive anyone just about anything - Amazon here I come.  Grin

One other thing - was Vaughan Williams really black and white, as featured on their home page?  Poor man, he must have got some stick for that...

A junior member of our family was tearfully convinced for days that we all lived in black and white in the fifties after seeing a monochrome programme and being told  that it was all like that when we were kids, Rubes....

That's reminded me of a friend who, when a wee one, said sorrowfully to her mother 'They didn't have colours when you were a little girl, did they?'. Ah, bless Grin

The program this morning is a good program to listen to variety of different musical styles. .

I could not get the name of a (French?) pianist who played Debussy Tarantella (I thought it was called Dance)?

I thought it was very good performance.

Biber's Serenade is such a beautiful and charming piece. I love the ensemble's playing and singing was so expressive.
