I don't know how many people caught this on yesterday's Afternoon on 3, a staggeringly great performance of Mahler's 6th by the Lucerne Festival Orchestra under Abbado, eclipsing even his Berlin 6th of recent years.

Anyone any idea where it might be torrented?  Grin

Don't know about "torrented", but drop me a line in a couple of weeks (Too much on my plate right now) and I might be able to help.

I caught most of it. Can't help with torrenting; but it was a devastating performance. I had to stay in the car to hear the end on the car radio (for about 30 minutes). Completely enthralling.

Stevo...it is a great performance yes...

and it is available staggeringly cheap from places like jpc (Germany) : I got mine for only 12 Euro / about 8 quid...

I don't mean to sound a killjoy, but why not support the orchestra and the music bizz by actually buying a copy? You get much better Hammer blows for your pennies as well...

all the musicky best

Just listening to my recording of this now (thank goodness I remembered to record it) - what a lucid, passionate reading!

Indeed, a magnificient reading, for which I am very grateful!  Grin

The Martin Jedermann Monologues which preceded it were also very fine, perhaps not as penetrating as Fischer-Dieskau but nonetheless an intelligently programmed work. It is amazing that it is not better known.
