No. The Beethoven is not operatic (although saying no to Fidelio sort of spells that out, doesn't it?  Wink)

No. The Suk is one of his most well known symphonic works.

Hello, pim! Can you think of a 'Flemish' Gurney song?

No, but I think I can find something on the internet.

Although the Netherlands were neutral during the Great War, I have a few Dutch anti-war songs from that period. I can put them up, if you like. Roll Eyes

In the alphabetical anagram, the Suk is very well known, the Beethoven non-operatic…

Yes. That's the first letter identified...

Beethoven
Delius
Handel
Liszt
Massenet
Asrael Symphony - Suk
Verdi
Wagner

The Liszt is orchestral rather than for solo piano; three operas lurking here too…

A brilliant attempt........but sadly not the one I had in mind! The Liszt was close (at least in Jonathan's Liszt list) and is the title of a reasonably well-known opera by another composer. Paddington Bear might lead you to the rather obscure Verdi!  Wink

Hello, Anna!! How long have you been 'back'?

Yes...Alzira is our Peru-based Verdi!!  Wink

I could have gone for Aida, of course, but Alzira makes it a bit trickier!
