New claims have emerged that music composed in the right way can have a similar effect on your mind to various narcotics:

Possible - or just a bit of clever marketing hype? Wink

Doesn't even sound that clever. Mind you, La Monte Young used to say that if he didn't transport you to heaven, he was failing. But perhaps that's a different, er, trip ?

Intriguing. I remember reading that people who suffer from schizophrenia seem to benefit from listening to some composers, while other composers (including Debussy which surprised me) seem to aggravate the problems.

I've known music at a live concert make my eyes mist up, not sad music, just beautifully played, and not just classical, even a very fine electric guitar solo! So what is going on there?? What are the mental processes ? (I'm a bloke).
