This, from some chat room: 'It got me thinking about the Hawaiian tradition of Luaow (sp?) where they dig a big pit, partially fill it with hot coals, and leave a complete pig in there to cook all night (or all day?).'

Thanks for correcting the spelling attempted in recalling the raw er, emotion that is the Slough experience(however by chance I think -aow may be correct`in the local patois)
HH, I've had a few disturbing ones of that ilk and may I offer my empathy. I think psychodynamics/ whatever are knocking around there in a healthy way. The 'frozen' kind of thing has come up in several futuristic efforts filmically (eg Bourne Identity, Cold Lazarus, surprisingly good mystical J Lopez thing I can't recall the title of )which makes me wonder if it isnt redolent of some archetype?

Central circle of Hell? Ulysses 31? Now you're talking! ('Until you reach the Kingdom of Hades, their bodies will remain as lifeless as dust')

I thought it might have been triggered by the death of Cap'n Birdseye.

Yes, I think dust is organic, isn't it?
Or is dust the non-organic one??? There's a line in Angels in America about that. I might actually have to go and watch it to find the quote, although I don't think I'll manage all 6 episodes tonight. Been meaning to watch 4-6 again for a while now, though ...

Another one bizarre enough to remember. I got involved in some kind of spy activity, secret hidey-holes, hidden transmitters, dodging baddies &c. And some very interesting locations; a red-brick uni, abandoned (bombed out?) house, government office. I think it had something to do with protecting some information, or technology, but I can't remember ever knowing exactly what.

Last night I dreamt I was appearing in a play - odd as I haven't done any acting since school plays aged 10 or 11. The first performance was imminent and I suddenly realised that I was relying on winging it ie I hadn't learnt my lines - and I didn't know them So a friend had to phone the director and ask him to get someone to sub for me reading from a copy of the script. I've never been any good at learning things off by heart but I don't get worried about it. "Learn off by heart" is an odd phrase isn't it? I had another vivid dream earlier which woke me while it was still dark but I can't remember it now.

...and not just actors, Ron! It's a classic performance anxiety dream, that is. Have you got a, er, performance coming up then, Andy?
