Having waited five months patiently for an explanation from quartertone, he now tells me I have to wait another year! So I am fed up and opening the question to general speculation from other members.

What is meant by a 25-dimensional concatenation?

Are we to conclude something from the fact that you've asked this in the coffee bar rather than on a music board, CD?

By "25-dimensional concatenation", what is surely meant is simply this: in order for 100 players to perform a quartet (in a balanced way), there would need to be 25 players to each part. Since "concatenate" means "link together", each part would be played by 25 players joining forces.

I don't think the result would be very musical somehow!

Clearly q-t doesn't know himself and, rather than admit it, is giving himself a year to work out the answer.

I ask in the coffee bar because I don't necessarily expect serious answers!

Sorry CD - I half thought that! Let's try again...

A 25-dimensional concatenation is (possibly) simply a party to be attended only by those celebrating their Silver Wedding Anniversaries.

Why not 4 players to a part for a 25-part work?

Anyway, I think it's something to do with a weird branch of string theory where a whole country of feline characters are taken for a ride.
