Young mother (newly-moved to Kensington) to next-door neighbour: "Are there any crêches nearby?"
Kensington neighbour:"Of course - they happen all the time, and you'd be surprised how many of the drivers aren't insured!"

Maybe, at 39, Chopin died of old age. Not so Carl Maria von Weber, similarly afflicted and also dead at 39. Weber had more to do.

Well there is that theory that the mammary glands of human females evolved in mimicry of buttocks. Wink

In case you have been studiously avoiding this topic, the Bush era is over in about 1 year, 0 months, and 17 days.

Now a small state in the middle of the country, resorting to the most undemocratic means, has chosen its favorites.

Barack Obama took the Democratic side by 37% over Clinton's 29% and Edwards' 30%

Mike Huckabee won the Repugnican side, even though he doesn't quite know where Pakistan is located.

We'll keep you updated, we will.

Why do Americans - or any others for that matter - VOTE? (It only encourages them!) I don't know how to huck a bee, or to reject a can, let alone conceive the whereabouts of somewhere called "Pakistan".

Remember: voting can seriously damage your health (as well as your wealth)!

I know not how to huck a bee
Or how to bin a can.
But when it comes to geography
To hell with Pakistan!

Although feeling subdued, he stood like a stalagmite and gazed at his kingdom. He saw a rambling gondolier trying to randomize his way through the mishmash. A cursory glance at his encyclopedia exploded his mind like dynamite.

Another year behind us, so here's another quartet for you to link up;

Karen carpenter

Eddie the Eagle

An unladen fishing trawler

Il Trovatore

The answer's probably staring me in the face, but I just can't see it at the moment.

(I notice in the New Musical Connections thread, whatever four names IGI puts down, he always manages to find a connection in the end - how does he do that? It's a pretty impressive achievement, even if other board members do sometimes drop in to help him out sometimes, by asking well-crafted questions that seem to nudge in him in the right direction.)

You wouldn't believe the amount of behind-the-scenes conspiracy that goes on with one of those quizzes, Daniel... that last wedding anniversaries one was a real doozy.  Wink
