*picks himself up from the floor* The names Ponto, Largo, Longo, Fosco, Dora, replacing Longo, Tango, Largo, Togo, Semolina respectively, remained into the final form of the genealogy.

Warning: a serious one from today's Grauniad - Some sagas were almost homeric: the Turkish Cypriot from the south who had eaten from the rare fig tree in his garden before being taken to his death. Years later that same variety of rare fig was found growing from a cave on a beach, pinpointing his grave.

In other words, the evolutionary viewpoint, far from invalidating the inference to intelligent origin, arguably does nothing more than moving back up one level, from the organisms to the processes by which those organisms have come to exist - or if you like, from primary to secondary causation.

For Behe the inadequacy of the neo-Darwinian synthesis consists in the fact that it cannot even in principle explain the origin of irreducible complexity.

I've never tasted Coca-Cola Zero Just found out it is based on the real Coca-Cola recipe, whereas the horrendous Diet Coke was/is a completely different recipe, no wonder I hated it!

Sorry, I'm on a dentist kick this evening... Uncomfortably familiar. I have been reviewing the family finances over the past week or so, and weighing the cost of extensive dental treatment against my addiction to sugar in all forms.

When we run over libraries, persuaded of these principles, what havoc must we make? If we take in our hand any volume of divinity or school metaphysics, for instance, let us ask, Does it contain any abstract reasoning concerning quantity or number? No. Does it contain any experimental reasoning concerning matter of fact and existence? No. Commit it then to the flames, for it can contain nothing but sophistry and illusion.

At every one of these [classical] concerts in England you will find rows of weary people who are there, not because they really like classical music, but because they think they ought to like it. (Shaw, Don Juan in Hell)
