The loo is referred to as "the WC" standing for Water Closet.

There's an area of the Albert Hall called the WC Stalls, iirc.
Dating from the days of Winston Churchill perhaps?

The clowns were sent in. There were several anxious moments when all that could be heard was banging, crashing, trombones slides and the honking of car horns. They emerged, face-paint sulkily smeared, several outsize shoes missing; but otherwise their dignity was intact.

Scones are fine of course, but sometimes you just need a little something extra. I think the guava jelly was a mistake.
