It might seem odd, but I think mine is, more or less. I have about 1100 CDs, far too many to play any individual recording with any regularity at all. And if a recording sits unplayed for years on end, is there much point in having it? Added to which, I've finally tracked down in the silver format virtually all the recordings I used to prize on LP as a youngster. I very seldom get excited about new classical releases these days.
Still, this might be no bad thing. Largely thanks to Late Junction, I am now branching out a bit after 5 decades of listening to very little other than classical music. My latest discovery is a hard-to-classify Belgian group called
Jaune Toujours. The forty-year-old me would have thought it most unlikely that I'd find anything appealing in their music... but it had the fifty-year-old me dancing round the living-room the other day
