Ah, well done, martle!

I have had a productive day, with lots still left to do.  After agonising about whether I really had space for a Christmas tree, I declined to answer the original question and bought one anyway.  My next task for the evening is to erect and decorate it.

I have also - for my sins - volunteered to sing "Schliesse, mein Herze" from the Christmas Oratorio during communion on Christmas morning.  Lord only knows why I did this, as I hadn't looked at it before today and it's really quite tricky, with angular intervals in Bach's usual fashion.  Still, I have been practising - aided by a glass of ginger wine - and I am sure it will be fine.  That's if I still have a voice after three more days of my current slight cold along with four church services.

Ginger wine - nice idea, Ruth, and good for the throat. Crabbe's or Stones?
Ooh, whiskey Mac! There's a drink I haven't had in a while.  Smiley

Stone's.  Funnily enough, I make informed choices about other alcoholic beverages, but I buy Stone's ginger wine as it's the one my parents have always bought.

Never thought about that before.  Perhaps next time I will buy Crabbe's instead.

Everyone feeling Xmas-y now, then?

I'm feeling Saturnalian. Does that count?  Undecided

Ooh, sorry Opi - missed that! Yes, that's perfectly acceptable.

I can't help wondering ... where do you keep your keys, Opi?

Marmite, anyone?

LOL.  Well, I keep my cups in the cupboard, and my keys in the keyboard ... <diving for cover emoticon>

The aria is taking shape.  Except for one particularly fiendish passage where I have to find a B# from the C# a seventh lower (we're in B minor here, by the way).  I have run through that passage time and time again and it is not getting any easier.  I know I should be able to think "stepwise only up the octave" but it's not working.

I gave up for the time being and moved on from the ginger wine to Bailey's (which in previous years I have always kept for Christmas Eve).  However I've stopped drinking now as I need to be in a fit state for choir in the morning.

Christmas tree looks lovely.

Well, I'm off on my travels tomorrow, and won't be able to post much for a week or so. So I'd like to thank everyone for their fabulous company over the last year and more that I've been talking to you all, plus all the great newcomers in that time. I never thought I'd spend so much time with so many lovely, funny, kind and knowledgeable people I've never met! Back with a vengeance in the New Year, godammit.
