Anyway, the mouse was showing signs of Antheil Syndrome - bald patches where my lily white fingers had rested Antheil Syndrome Those white patches were probably caused by the acid dripping from your fingers from those raw lemons you keep sucking!!

PC or Mac, tinners? Mac: * Apple (Command) Key +Shift+3
Captures entire desktop to a file on the desktop as 'picture #' . This option lets you capture the whole screen. If you want just one window on your screen, you will have to edit the picture using image editing software.
* Apple (Command) Key +Shift+4
Allows you to use your mouse to select a specific part of your desktop for capture. This will turn your mouse pointer into a cross, please hold down the mouse button and drag to select the part of the screen you want. When you release the button the screenshot will "snap" that part of the screen. Press 'Esc' to release.
* Apple (Command) Key +Shift+4 then press Spacebar
Allows you to select which window to capture.

On the subject of Macs, I was talking to someone last night who's been having email and internet problems for some time. After trying, and failing, to understand what the problem was from her description, I offered to go and have a look at the machine today. It was then that I discovered that it's a rather old Mac - should be interesting as I've never used one before and know nothing about the OS! (Operating System not Oliver Sudden) She uses Eudora for email which I've also never used.

Well that was interesting, grappling with Mac OS 9.2 (or even earlier, I wasn't quite sure which version was on the m/c) - it took me a while to work out how to do simple things like close a window!
The email problem came down, I think, to Eudora truncating long file names on attachments so the recipients couldn't open them when they double-clicked.
The internet problem wasn't really a problem at all. There was a very old version of IE on the m/c and her home page (BT Yahoo) came up with an error message saying that the browser wasn't supported. I couldn't persuade her that this wasn't a real problem so I just changed the home page to Google and she was very happy then.
I'd taken the Mac version of Firefox along on a CD but couldn't get that to install so presumably the current one won't work on OS 9.2. I also tried to update IE to a more recent version but it said, sorry your computer's too old. I then had a go with Safari but the whole m/c hung up and, anyway, as she's still on dial-up, it would probably have taken ages to download it.
Talk about the blind leading the blind!
