420 - it is Basil Kalinnikoff's Symphony no. 1 in G minor (movt. 1)
Baz
I should Ko-Ko. Well done, Mr Baz. Well, if G minor's the connection, could No.419 be Reinecke's Symphony No. 3 in G minor, Op. 227?
But it's a (Nanki) Poo for that one.

Another attempt at 419 (there must be a limit on the number of G minor symphonies?!) - William Sterndale Bennett's Symphony in G Minor, Op. 43

There are more G minor symphonies than one realizes. I've got a little list and there's one of them you've both missed.

Not French but Swedish. Well, having tried Stenhammar, let's take a punt on Berwald's Symphony No.1 in G minor for No.419.

A muted hurrah (having tried and rejected Berwald's 1st some time ago!) Having trouble nesting your quotes there, Tony? Hope it's not catching! A first clue to No.391: this 1990 composition is rather appropriate for this week, I think, tomorrow especially. A second clue to No.391: this composer, born in 1944, describes his composition using an apt quote: "Remember me when you come into your Kingdom," and "Today you will be with me in Paradise." A third clue to 391: Don't confuse this English composer with his 16th Century counterpart!

391 is not Tavener's Thrinos, I'm afraid.
