457 is The Stone Wall by Malcolm Williamson. That is a recording from the Last Nigth of the Proms, 1971.
Excellent Mr. Watson! You have solved another one we thought impossible. (Members will see the connection
roof - windows - wall; but we searched in vain for something to do with
doors.) It is good that you cite the Proms, because we happened to see in Grove that the work was one of Williamson's "cassations" - in other words "miniature concert
operas with audience participation" - and we were thinking we might have strayed off topic. Apparently Williamson found that these cassations of his had an unexpected
therapeutic effect upon the participating audience.
