Mr Watson, I believe 460 to be Rossini, overture to The Thieving Magpie. Hmm?

Sorry, not that.

And might we stab at 462 as well? Vaughan Williams Oboe Concerto?

But yes, correct!

460 is, then, perchance, Rossini's overture to The Silken Ladder?

No perchance about it, martle, The Silken Ladder (La Scala di Seta) it most certainly is. Well done!

459 is driving me nuts. I've heard it before but I know I don't have a recording of it. Let's try Liszt's Piano Concerto no 2.

We know the feeling. Sorry but it is not Liszt's Concerto no. 2. It sounds a little like Chopin too does not it . . . but it is not Chopin either.

Could 459, I wonder, be Chaminade's Concert Piece for Piano and Orchestra, Op. 40?

Sorry no it couldn't! Or perhaps it would be better put to say that it could be but isn't.

Forget the previous, we now believe 463 to be the String Quartet K 428 by Mozart.

Excellent Mr. Watson! We had thought that because it was such a short extract it would not be solved so quickly.
