Puzzle 446: SendSpace and Rapidshare

Puzzle 447: SS and RS - Nielsen: Aladdin

Puzzle 448: SS and RS - Ravel: Shéhérazade (ouverture de féerie)

Another clue needed for 446? This orchestral work, using music from an opera of the same name, was itself based on one of the lesser known Arabian Nights stories, but I'm sure you can cobble together a suggestion.   Wink

446 is Marouf by Rabaud.

I'm amazed no-one's got my 461 yet. It sounds a bit Arabian Nights I suppose.

Right some guesses:

459 Mahler Symphony No.5 Adagietto
461 Mahler Symphony No.5 Adagietto
464 Mahler Symphony No.5 Adagietto
465 Mahler Symphony No.5 Adagietto

I know they are all wrong, but that's 80 points.....  Wink

The last one for to-day - puzzle 465, HERE or HERE.

Is 465 Clara Schumann: Piano concerto in A minor Op. 7?

(I don't know it - and don't recognize the snatch either!)

Congratulations, Mr Watson. 446 was indeed Henri Rabaud's Mârouf, savetier du Caire, completing the Arabian Nights musical connection.

Members' points at reply 2754:

Mr. Inquisitor: 25434 - 25000 = 434 [* ][***][****]

As widely anticipated the indomitable Mr. Inquisitor has won again, by reaching the target of 25,000 points. His personal third win makes him the fourth winner in our table. Congratulations to Mr. Inquisitor, whose total has been reset to nought. The next goal is 27,500 points.

Hurrah!

Many thanks, Mr Grew, your congratulations are humbly accepted. Now that Mr Watson has solved the Mârouf snatch, it is time to signal my intention to 'retire' from this thread, which has cost much in time (and money!!) in trying to identify a wide range of musical snatches. (Seriously, I've been introduced to some glorious music which has widened my horizons - Schreker plus a newly arrived disc of Rozsa's Violin Concerto will be spinning this evening).

I am sure that Messers Iron, Watson and Grew (and Mr Sudden should he rejoin the fray) plus others will continue to battle it out!

A great champ bows out!

Sir, we congratulate you, and wish you many happy years of retirement in the agreeable company of those frequenting the rather more genteel NMC thread.

468 - Handel, Concerto in Bb for Organ, Op. 4, no. 6

I think I'm going to have to give that to you, Mr Iron.  The recording was in fact from a Harp  performance, but only the introduction.

A clue to puzzle 459, which by lodging in the mind has exasperated so many members: its composer although one would not think it from the music was Russian.
