Here is Puzzle 140a, which replaces the withdrawn Puzzle 140.

Solution to Puzzle 140a:

Animal Farm by George ('Orwell') Ligetti?

Incorrect.

Well that's a disappointment! Let's try again:

Carnival of the Geriatric Animals by Saint-('Senseless')-Saens perhaps?

I'm devastated! Third time lucky perhaps...how about

Electronic Quadrupedic and Avian Flatulence for Synthesizer and Bogroll-Holder by the brothers Harries and Bert ('O'Faherty') Whistler? (Now that, surely, MUST be correct?)

No answers on postcards please - let's all be GREEN

Again, incorrect. The orchestra is the SWF-Sinfinieorchester Baded-Baden und Freiberg, conducted (well not in that movement, actually, it's "Ohne Dirigent, Speil nach Zeichen") by Michael Gielen.

Well, in that case it's Frederic Rzewski's Scratch Symphony.

Which I've never heard, but would like to after auditioning the snatch...

PUZZLE 144 - as Rapidshare or Sendspace

I think I remembered to do this as an mp3 file.  Let me know if there are problems.

It should be quite easy......

Tommo, a few seconds are enough to tell me it's Ysaÿe, the D minor violin solo sonata (no. 3).

I would advise the compiler of these very useful lists that Puzzle 140 was withdrawn by its setter due to the oversight of leaving the mp3 tag, replete with full identification of the work in question, in place. It is the replacement Puzzle 140a which was solved by Evan.

Oh Yes!  Hurrah for the awarding of some extra points to Mr S
