George - what excellent smoke rings!  Must be because everyone is standing outside to smoke these days.  Wink Grin

Surely it's the big oil depot fire at Buntsfield, Hemel Hempstead (not that far from St Albans) in December 2005?

It is indeed, Ron, (Buntscefield). Goodness, and yes, coming up to three years ago this December.

I remember it particularly because it was the weekend that we brought the last load up from storage in Reading: the pall in the sky was very visible from there on the Sunday morning, and still very evident the following day as we started the long drive up.

I certainly remember hearing and 'feeling' two big, muffled 'crumps' and thinking 'What the hell was that?' before going back to sleep.

Might be another Tommo and martle alert, there, Mort. You might get away with the 'hearing' bit, but as for the rest of it..... Shocked

I remember that fire too. I must have seen it from the train to London, no doubt on the way to see a Britten opera.

The BBC has promised us dry weather here - well, nearly promised. I've washed a king-size duvet cover which is now out on the line. Black clouds are gathering.....Sad

Yup. That did occur to me as I hit the 'Send' button, but what the hell? Anything I can do to bring a little pleasure into their lives. Oops, there I go again! Cheesy

It is cloudy here, but not dark and dry.

bbm, did you here from Michael? He is busy helping friend with arranging some music. I know he is always busy, but he said that he will look at his e-mails. He is good man, but young. (early thirty).

We have just managed the first 24 hour period without rain for the whole of August, it is currently SUNNY!

I have 2 Primroses flowering in my garden, I wonder if they are early or late...? They are certainly confused!

So far so good in this neck of the woods.  Brilliant sunshine up to now but the weather forecast for the weekend is a bit carp.  Showers, gales, thunderstorms...... Roll Eyes
