I've come across this clever *RUDUD system before but forgotten aobut it - it's somewhere online but i haven't time to find it now.
Musipedia is fun but i don't know if your tune's here, pim:

I found the name of a Welsh hymn tune that was in my head and I'd forgotten its name (Ebenezer)

Yes, I do want to reply. I have a new piece, transcribed from memory long long ago, which I have been trying to identify. One of my brain cells keeps jumping up and down, waving its arms and stomping its feet, and insisting it is by Poulenc, another has just woken up and suggests rather sleepily that it's by Franck, of course. It seems sort of Bach-y, so I have absolutely no idea.

Musipedia doesn't recognize it yet.

And while we're at it you lot, why hasn't anybody answered my question about the pentatonic scale yet?

Kitty, I don't know what it is, but everything about it suggests a C20th Baroquey bent. Villa-Lobos - one of the Bachianas Brasileiras, perhaps?

I'm at home now so I can see your notes!

Well if there is the possibility that it is not 100% accurately transcribed, then may I suggest the Poulenc Organ Concerto?  The bit with the organ alone near the end before the final string chords.

Thank you Tommo! I feel very reassured. Now I will know in which direction to look.
Well if there is the possibility that it is not 100% accurately transcribed,
The only thing I can offer in my defence is that if I had made it up completely there might have been another two bars just to round it off nicely.

Kitty, I picked up the scent when you said Franck x Poulenc,  and lo the  notation -did you do that via midi software?

Its Poulenc's Organ Concerto in G Minor with strings and timpani. Searingly romantic (as usual with Francis P) subtly p***s-taking piece. Seeing this and your discovering it takes my mind of the suspected theft of my collected rod mckuens in se11.

..excuse the superfluous  post, Tommo was eminently there in one bound. Enjoy, anyway.
