As has been pointed out by several members before, these meet-up societies tend to attract people with a different slant to their interests to those already here, which is why so few members have followed your previous invitations. If this society already has a website, but doesn't yet have a board, then why don't they start one as part of their existing set-up?

I can't really understand why you feel that we need a vast influx of new members, anyhow: boards like this grow organically through the arrival of those who feel that they share common interests and outlooks with the majority of those already here; surely simply grafting on another community with a different constituency is unlikely to benefit either party?

I just think it would be a good idea to put like minded people together, they probably do not know this board exists, perhaps if you cosy on up to them they can mention the url on the flyers they are handing out ?

Agreed Ron, this forum is just about small enough that I can keep up with most of what's going on, though I don't have time to read everything. A lot bigger and I'd lose track. It's simple to set up a new forum so the society which LB mentioned but which he's now removed could easily create their own.

My two pennorth. This Forum is growing quite happily at its own pace through word of mouth and new Members are always welcome if they want to participate. But, as Ron rightly points out, if there is an existing group of you with shared interests and you have already met up, then why not set up a Board? It's not difficult and you would already have a great deal in common. Just a thought.
