It looks as though Ruth noticed it in Sarf Lunnun. Cripes! In Norf Lunnun? Nuffing. Typical. Unless I'm a better sleeper than I think I am .....

According to that graveyard of journalistic ambition, BBC South Today, the earthquake was felt in Brighton.  But not here - I must have been firmly in the land of Nod.

At every one of these [classical] concerts in England you will find rows of weary people who are there, not because they really like classical music, but because they think they ought to like it. (Shaw, Don Juan in Hell)

My dog slept through it.  So much for animals being sensitive to such things.  The child also slept through it.  I was up and about anyway and I just couldn't believe what was happening.

I spoke to some of the mums outside school and not many had experienced it but those of us who had, were quite shaken up.  It was quite a few seconds and the whole house was vibrating.  Very scary.

Just seen this on BBC Birmingham website, so people round here were affected:

Suchet Budon in Selly Oak also experienced the tremor: "I was building a shelf and I thought I heard a screeching sound like an aeroplane going over, but my wife said the bed shook.

"I didn't take any notice of it because I was hammering away at the shelf I didn't notice any shaking. When I woke up it was on the radio, I didn't realise immediately that it was an earthquake."

His neighbours must love him!

I was wide awake and here on the computer but I didn't notice anything. There's a bench in the garden lying on its side but I think that was more likely blown over by the strong winds yesterday.

And in Five Mile Bottom, Cambs., several sheep were mysteriously found facing the opposite way, by the shepherd who last saw them the previous evening.

No, I'm not a complete idiot. I'm only a halfwit. In fact I'm actually a catfish.

I was half-expecting some after-shocks but nothing so far.  It's all very strange.

Ho Milly,
There was an aftershock at about 4am the same night as the main quake of around 3 on the Richter scale.  That's all the data I was able to find!
