Next week it's World Book Day - Thursday 6th. All the children at primary school (and in those high schools which apply) are given a £1 book token (there are special £1 books they can buy). http://www.worldbookday.com/ This year in my school, we all have to dress up as a character in a story... I'm struggling to think of someone I can be. Suggestions please! That Russian doll on the G&S thread's reminded me of Babushka but she's a bit out of season. However, that headscarf's instantly identifiable. Wonder if IGI has to dress up too...

Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

What about Little Miss Busy? She "is always busy. When she's not cleaning the house, she's shopping, and when she's not shopping she's gardening, and when she's not gardening she's cooking. She never stops!" She certainly doesn't have time to spend posting on r3ok!

A few to consider - Harry Potter (not too demanding) or Professor McGonagall (pointy hat, long black dress)
- Willy Wonka (top hat / frock coat and cane)
- Alice
- Beryl the Peril (red/white stripy jumper, black beret and skirt)
- Storm (white hair, black leathers (X-Men character))

So who did you dress up as in the end, MabelJane? And, IGI? Is there anything you wish to share with us about your outfit today?

And, IGI? Is there anything you wish to share with us about your outfit today? Tempting as it was to don the cardinal robes and scare the children witless, we didn't dress up today, as we're holding our Book Week in the summer. Last time we did this, I dressed up as Captain Hook. Our classes did hold a Tudor Day in the autumn, which saw me donning the tights and dressing up as Henry VIII to lead my calligraphy workshops! No photographs survive, gladly! (well, not of the Henry VIII, at least)

Quite honestly, it's high time we started doing this kind of thing in HE too.
