Yes, Morty, I managed to post a message, eventually, then got it wrong and had to try again, and again. I got the corrected version through, then got the busy message again when I tried to refresh the page.

Ants, someone suggested that I opt for the cheapest Sky package, have it for a year and then cancel. Silly though it may seem, I am reluctant to put any of my pennies into Rupert's already weighted pockets Angry

Not silly at all Mort, I refuse to have anything to do with anything owned by Murdoch - eg Myspace - and I certainly wouldn't pay for any of his stuff.

My problems with the new iplayer seem to have been resolved by downloading the latest version of Flash and ditto IE and just testing all is working fine again.  I take back all I said about Vergin' on the Ridiculous throttling me!!

The Nige prom will be broadcast on BBC2 this Saturday 6:45-8:15.  Unfortunately only "highlights"

Ah, that would explain why I couldn't find Nige, Ants. The new iPlayer is carp as far as trying to find things is concerned, then when you think you've found it, it's not there.
Sorry, off-topic sulk Sad

I thought you said previously you liked the new layout of iplayer Mort?

Thought I'd reply here, rather than go off-topic on the Proms thread.

No, I loathe the new iPlayer layout - it's messy, cluttered and 'shouty'. I'm finding it difficult to find what I'm looking for.

Oh Lord, I'm turning into a TOP Curmudgeon Shocked

there's supposed to be a new FreeSat service starting soon - well, actually last month - run by the Beeb and ITV, too.
I'll ask some tame BBC boffins I know if there's any news on this.

I was invited to take part in the iPlayer trial, but they were only looking to trial it with PC users  Angry Huh Works OK on my Mac though, but there is the buffering problem - once the whole programme has downloaded it's OK, it's just when it starts to play whilst still downloading it can get a bit juddery.

A friend rang me to say he couldn't even get into the new radio iPlayer for listen again, only for live. I recommended downloading the latest version of FlashPlayer, which I assume worked since he hasn't rung me back. The latest IE won't make any difference since I can get it to work with Firefox.

The bitrates for listen again are supposed to be improving dramatically - but it's going to have to wait until after the Olympics, according to

He can't even quote Burns correctly, Andy: "The best laid schemes o' Mice an' Men, gang aft agley." If he can't get that right, now are we supposed to trust his other info?  Wink

It plays for 7 seconds before cutting out.  <sigh>

For those finding iplayer difficult to find programmes and generally messy and cluttered  have a look at this page.  It offers a text only version also those on dial up can link to audio programmes.

Which "Nige Prom" would that be, Anty, the Elgar, or the MotR 'jazz' one? Wink

[Anyway, the 'jazz' one plays perfectly well here without dropping out after 7 seconds. How up to date is your Flash?]

Both Nige Proms were there Byrn, they then disappeared and came back yesterday.  I have the latest Flash and they then played perfectly.  Still don't understand why they changed iplayer when it worked perfectly before.  Now it seems (looking at the MBs) that there is a problem with it and BT Home Hub.  Also yesterday morning a lot of programmes were totally unavailable (they admitted they had a problem).

A question for those currently resident in the US of A, does the iPlayer work there for playing Radio 3 programmes, such as the Proms. I mean the Flash iPlayer, specifically, as in, say:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00cq3vg/ ?

If that works, how about:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00cm1qb/ ?
