Squirrel pasties sound like an excellent idea, from every point of view.   Unfortunately, I would never be forgiven by my family.

Squirrels never cease to amaze me, I would certainly describe them as cute myself. The way they slink up to you in Kensington Gardens always cheers me up.

Apologies to those of a vegetarian nature.  I believe that if you eat meat, you should feel comfortable with killing animals / game / livestock.

Maybe you have a point , but as a strict vegetarian and looking at a thead about birds and how to look after them in your garden, I do find those pages quite horrible and tasteless. In my opinion.  Cry Cry

Seconded, A. Can the squirrel catching & cooking please be discussed in the What's Burning thread and we'll avoid it!

Watched martins swooping and scooping delightfully today - I did suggest to a friend they might be pine martins but for some reason that caused much mirth...I think I meant house martins! Roll Eyes Embarrassed Cheesy

Indeed so. Looks like it's been eating biscuits too!

Well, fair enough about the catching and cooking, but the fact remains that grey squirrels are an appalling menace to birds - they raid nests and eat eggs, chicks and fledglings.  I have no doubt that one of the reasons why we have so many young birds in the garden this year is the fact that, up to now, there haven't been any squirrels about.

It's hard to distinguish between an e and an i when they're swooping about so high and at such speed, George. Kiss

Pine martens really love jam sandwiches.

And so easy to catch - none of that swooping about in the air!

We have found the robin babies in the nest.. dead. We looked because the robins have stopped rushing in and out, I hoped that they had flown the nest but....  Cry
