George, a real-life happy ending! There will be great rejoicing in the Aslan household today and you are fully entitled to dance a joyous jig whilst hugging yourself with delight with a big soppy grin plastered all over your face Ron, I hope your neighbour's cat returns home safely very soon. A missing animal has you worried out of your wits and feeling helpless. It's the price we pay for taking them into our lives and caring for them in the first place. Not that I regret having shared my home with any of my beasts. Just the inevitable loss.

Well done George and for reading the notice in the first place. When my Sophie went missing I posted flyers through everyones doors and got a result - so it's well worth trying.
Ron, I found Sophie at the Vets, she had been hit by a car and the people had (unusually) taken her there. Always worth giving the Vets a ring or even the local Cat Rescue in case someone had thought she was a stray and taken her there. Unfortunately cats have an obsession with outhouses and garages.

Unfortunately cats have an obsession with outhouses and garages.
Years ago, one of our black cats, Holly, jumped into a disused garage through a small hole in the roof. As she was missing, we'd gone knocking on neighbours' doors asking them to check their garages. The owner of this garage assured us he never opened the door so she couldn't be in there. Very fortunately, Holly heard our voices and we heard a faint miaowing from inside. I shudder to think of the outcome had she not miaowed at that moment... Well done GG - it just shows that having hairy ears can be a jolly good thing. (Btw, I too read it as Asian...that lower case L should have a little flick at the bottom - a curly bottom is much more attractive.)

Took this pic of Pix drinking from a bucket yesterday morning - at one point she was balancing on the rim of the bucket, no feet on the ground, but I couldn't get my camera quickly enough to snap her.

You know, Pixie's paws are very beautiful things to meditate upon when one can't get to sleep. Just look at that wonderfully relaxed front paw. It gives as much profound pleasure as the very different but equally charming hands of Mr Grew's pet, er, Skink?

Isn't she gorgeous? She has faint stripes in that grey fur - lovely. The garden plants look a bit dead though! I agree, GG, she does have beautiful paws. Paws for thought.

Looks as though Pixie is having a lot of fun doing cat-type things things now, including having Her Own Chair!

Anyway, several phone calls and expeditions later, Aslan and owners were eventually reunited. I'm absurdly chuffed about it.
And so you should be, George. Do non-cat owners have any idea how traumatic an experience even a short disappearance can be? Those little fliers posted to the lampost, if you look carefully, are smeared with tears, often have taken hours to put together on inadequate PCs, or painstakingly carefully worded script. It goes deep with us 'staff'. You saved some folks some real heartache there, GG.

Me, MrsBBM and our friend, as some of you may have found out, had arrived yesterday from a great holiday in Cornwall, and our cat was soooo clingy when we arrived. He was rather pleased to see us. Our friend's daughter and boyfriend stayed at the house while we were away and want to do that again to.

Just to let you know that Keiron and Calum, whose mum's cat Hazel's disappearance was mentioned a few days ago, knocked on the door soon after I arrived back this afternoon to tell me that the missing mog was discovered in a garage yesterday.

Good to hear all the happy ending stories on here - well done from me George, too. Is it the weather for cats to go in garages etc or something? Only I managed to lock mine in the shed overnight by accident the other day for the first time ever. He usually darts out as soon as I go near it but on Thursday evening I had no idea he was in there. I was about to go to work on Friday and was idly wondering where he'd got to, so wandered about the garden for a while with my breakfast. Thankfully he thought to meow (presumably while pausing from his effort to tunnel under the door - bag of wood shavings anyone?) and I realised just in time to get him out of there before Friday's daytime semi-heatwave.

Glad you found your cat Rubes!
Well, as I said in The Film Thread, what happened, with our cat. We heard these peculiar noises from behind one of the arm chairs in our lounge. So we moved the old stack system thats there, and low and behold there was a field mouse!! I was thinking that as soon as the noises were sounded, the cats eyes bulged out and he knew there was something there. A lot of scurrying around was had by all, including the cat(!), eventually our firend caught the mouse in the basket, and Mrs BBM took the mouse outside where it hurriedly ran off. Who could blam e the poor thing. Obviously the cat brought the poor mouse in and started to play with it!! CATS!!!
