My little Portia, as soon as she heard the fan of the main oven start to whirr would be in the kitchen, going round in circles and yowling pitifully because she associated that sound with a roast chicken dinner  Cheesy

If I chucked her out she would instantly be back in case she missed any FOOD!!  Little gannet.

These pictures make me wonder why Shere Khan didn't climb trees in search of Mowgli:

Well, I was'nt exactly blaming the cat, KB. Just rather annoying when your engrossed in a dvd at the time!!
It's pretty annoying any time!  I love mice, they're great little creatures, but it's a pain in the .... neck trying to catch them.  I wish I knew what "Go in the damn container, I'm not trying to eat you I'm taking you back outside" translated to in mouseish. My sympathy bbm!

Human mouse-catchers - try a welly! I've mentioned this before but it is worth repeating (I hope) for those who didn't read it - if you corner a mouse and drive it towards a welly lying on its side (along a wall) it will usually dive in. Or, a mouse on the loose in the house will often make the welly its home or at least its restaurant if you bait it with grapes/apple & biscuits/birdseed. Juicy fruit's important as mice often die of thirst before they are captured - of course you could also provide a tiny dish of water too! The mouse will cling to the inside of the welly with its little claws so make sure you've actually shaken it out before bringing the welly back indoors! Cheesy

There was a very distressed pigeon in the garden this afternoon - mostly standing still but occasionally attempting and failing to fly. I didn't let Pixie out as it was raining all day but I was surprised that none of the other local cats had a go at it. It was dead when I got home an hour or so ago so I disposed of it down the bottom of the garden - there was a darting feline shadow as I did so.

How sad Andy D. At least the pidgeon was had by a certain feline. My cat is a typical one. Like the time he brought that mouse in!!

Ha ha - nice idea!  I last used a black woolly hat with a toilet roll elastic-banded into the opening.  When I picked it up I wondered where on earth it had gone - it was so light I could hardly tell it was in there.

I was brought a bird last night - first "present" I've had in ages, so I was starting to think the cat was having a summer break...  Sad

I've been trying to get Pixie to try the Iams Senior & Mature that I bought but she didn't seem too keen. I had a bowl each of Iams and the Whiskas that she's used to, but she emptied the Whiskas bowl and hardly seemed to touch the other. So I thought I'd wasted the £4 it cost me. I briefly put Iams in both bowls but relented and reverted to a bowl of each. However just now she was eating the Iams in preference to the Whiskas Smiley

That's just another feline motto, Andy. "Always keep'em on their toes: wait until they think they know what you like you before changing your mind completely: stops them getting in a rut."

Andy, I've found one answer to that problem is to mix Iams (healthy sensible food - ugh) with Whiskas (yummy sweet junk food) in the same bowl.  Wink

First thing this morning, i heard a commotion outside. With two cats involved. One of them was mine!! Chasing off an intruder into his territory. Good to see him active!!

Taken about half an hour ago. The shed with the green roof is next door but one. I've cleaned and refilled her tray this morning so I bet she comes back after her expedition and poos in it Sad
