Ah yes, the famous 'growing extra limbs in an emergency' trick Grin I used to get completely stressed out trying to manoeuvre  an indignant, fighting bundle of fur and legs into the cat basket until I hit back with Towel Trick of sneaking up, covering him with a towel and scooping him up.  Bingo!, in the basket before he knew it. You still get the filthy looks when the cat is decanted at the vet, but I can live with that Wink

Ah, now I can't decant mine once he's in the vet's.  His legs disappear and he grows suckers on his belly.  I have to dismantle the entire box and get a fish slice under one side and a crowbar on the other.

Once he's on the table he presses himself up against the wall or into the corner.  I'm convinced that one day he'll figure out how to change his fur to the wallpaper pattern.

*Poppy Update*

She was back yesterday morning, soon after breakfast, and curled up by the patio door or under the shrubs in the garden. On returning from a quick walk to the shops, I spotted a 'Missing' poster - yes, it featured Poppy. I phoned up her owner, who explained that she had gone missing for about six days, but had since turned up (she lives further down my road). Poppy has apparently had a big 'falling out' with her sister and is doing her best to avoid her completely! Her owner was grateful for the call, however, and told me to shoo her out to try and encourage her to take up residence at home again!

When in doubt, wash.

A nice little story, IGI! I wouldn't shoo her out though - it sounds as though she needs a safe haven where she can relax. As long as you don't start feeding her (which we know you won't) she'll know where her real home is and presumably go back there when she's hungry. Poor Poppy - she must be searching for a better home. She's probably disappointed that you haven't offered her any food but enjoys your company!

Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

No, I wouldn't shoo her out either. She may take that as a rejection and roam further afield. As long as she's with you, IGI, she's only a few doors away from home (must be a huge relief for the owner). She obviously feels safe with you, BIG compliment. She'll go back home in her own time when she feels welcome there. Then, know what? You'll miss her!

Cats can find good people and can go to be fed to neighbors. I know stories like that.

Do you like Persian cats? Does any one has one of them?

My friend had two like that. I am not sure I like them. I think they are too much work.

Having dipped into ICHC a little while ago I found this, which I hereby bring to the attention of Andy D in case he's planning on doing any decorating:

Hmm, too true.  I was recently over at my neighbour's house while she was painting her kitchen and her cat waited until she'd finished before delicately backing into the wall with her tail up.  We were chasing her round the house with damp kitchen towel for hours.

(The neighbour and I were chasing the cat, not the cat and I chasing my neighbour... that would just be weird. (Ha! Come here, I paint you with my tail! Ha!) )

I promised George a photo of Mistress Martlepuss enjoying a walk on a Welsh beach a couple of days ago. So here it is. She really does like to wander down there over the pebbles, ostensibly to worry the seagulls (like she'd stand a chance).

(And before anyone asks, no, she doesn't have a tail.  Cool )

She looks as though she's got something in her sights there, Marts. That's a very determined expression Grin
