we need a global 'open door' policy, that way people can just move around as they like
think 'no barriers' not 'raise barriers'
It's a lovely idea but would be absolute chaos.

things change, a lot of people have left england for australia/usa, people move around, one of the things you notice about the east european immigrants is that you often can not tell they are immigrants until they start talking
a lot of people whose parents are from india/pakistan/jamaica think we have too many east european immigrants
people just like to moan, we import products, we import people etc. etc.
canary wharf is VERY international

what we need to do is to encourage people to leave britain and thus provide more space, how about talking australasia and the usa into only accepting people with a high level of education, and skills that are in demand, so that anyone who maybe of use to our economy can leave

Milord, if you were in charge I'd certainly leave the country. So maybe that's the answer.

Most countries (including the USA) already have very clearly defined immigrant categories prioritising - entrepreneurs with substantial capital which will be invested in USA business
- successful artists who are already internationally recognized
- qualified professionals in "in-demand" fields of expertise
The other options for aspiring immigrants to the USA include the marriage category (which requires that the immigrant partner can prove that they will not be a financial burden on the state) and an immigrant lottery.

I know, most countries have an 'entry requirement' but how odd that being born in a place allows you to sidestep those requirements, the whole thing is very silly, we should scrap borders as we scrap import/export tax. Humans are nothing but units of productions ( machines ) in our global capitalist system and as free trade is good for all, so is free movement. One world, under the united nations, in capitalism we trust

I just don't see the point in writing this kind of ill-informed and misleading stuff.
The point, presumably, is to help prompt the changes in infrastructure that will allow 16 million people to be dropped into the South East. He doesn't seem to be taking that angle to me. If he did, the article might have been a little more interesting.

as free trade is good for all, so is free movement.
For terrorists and pædophiles, no doubt. Can't see obvious benefits for their intended targets, though.

I know, most countries have an 'entry requirement'...
But do you meet New Zealand's? Find out on their points calculator! - not just the General Requirements, but the Points Test which follows.

If he did, the article might have been a little more interesting. Neither does his angle accord with the proposition posited in the first message of this thread: i.e. that the views expressed are a) a lurch to the right, and b) anti-immigration. In therefore eliminating both a "political" and a "racist" motive for the piece, it is difficult to view the article in terms other than those described by Mr Dahm. Baz
