People should know better than to kill things, but most of them don't. As a veggie for over 40 years, this is what I seriously believe. No-one has the right to take the life of another living being... IMHO !! I know.... meat eaters disagree.. but... I can't help the way I am !! A

Blimey Mart! You mean your beast takes note of the decreasing level of alcohol in your glass and tops it up! You are indeed a wealthy man! Not quite, Mort! They just look at you funny when you're one over the limit. Don't they?

Ah, you mean that heavy feline sigh of exasperation, followed by the `I`m going to ignore this behaviour and go back to sleep` posture?

I am happy and unhappy this morning. I am happy because it is a beautiful morning, I already cleaned the house for the most parts and I only have one appointment (a long one, but not unpleasant I hope). For the unhappy part of me I have to go to the other thread. But what about canary. I like cats, don't like what they do to birds. TP says they only kill sick birds. I do not believe it. They can take young chicks and not mature birds. But dogs demand too much attention. May be I should have a canary. May be not now but in a few years if I make it.

No-one has the right to take the life of another living being I'm not challenging your views by asking this, but I'd be interested to know what your view on mosquitoes was?

I'm not as principled as A, and more of a hypocrite, because I'm not a veggie. Nearly, but not quite. I do eat fish, and I know I wouldn't if I had to catch it myself. I occasionally kill a wasp, but I always apologise to it . I am however a committed pacifist.

I try not to kill anything. I catch flies with a cloth and let them out. The same goes for spiders. May be they die after but not by my hand. I do kill mosquitoes that land on me. I have no problem with that for some reason. But I don't kill wasps or bees or anything if I can help it. I am not of Hindu religion or Buddhist. I am nothing really. I just know that there is something that we can call God. I hope what I do will please him/her. I like this board, I hope that is ok too.

I'm afraid to say that I just can't kill them. When I was teaching it was a known fact that no-one was allowed to kill anything in my classes. When a wasp came in the room they were told to put their hand up and say immediately 'Wasp' I then ( you won't believe this) used to say loudly to the wasp 'Out!!' and point at the fire door that was almost always open , and they went out!! If they didn't I would take a tissue and give them a hand !! (I don't think the youngsters called me a witch!!!!) Sorry, it is just one of my things, I am not self righteous , it is just that I cannot kill anything knowingly. A

t-p, I try not to kill anything too. Flys fly out eventually, I usually manage to encourage bees out of the house by `talking` them out, I try to avoid stepping on ants and spiders are more scared of me than I am of them. But as far as wasps and mosquitoes are concerned, they are for the chop. The damage they can do to me is life threatening. `fraid it`s me first. I`m sure someone will correct me here but, as far as I am aware, wasps contribute nothing to the world. They strike me as rather vindictive creatures who sting even when they aren`t being threatened. Good grief! Just as I`m typing this a bee has flown in. Must dash. Time to `talk` it out
