May I say that shoe sizes are getting smaller? Or is it only cheap ones are getting smaller? Also what is wrong with some undergarment? They are also smaller.

It's true that dress sizes vary hugely from make to make. I've had the same experience as Milly with Wallis.
Shoe sizes in Britain are slightly different now that the European sizes are taken as the standard, and sort of translated into the nearest British equivalent. At least, that's what I think happened, but I also think it's possible that feet spread slightly as you get older. I take a half (or sometimes a whole) size larger than I used to, for some reason.

My experience as far as shoes is concerned is to ignore the British sizes, particularly when you get into the 11-12 bracket (shoe-size, not age). Some manufacturers seem to use 46 as a 12, some use 45. As far as I can tell, 45 is just about what 12 used to be in the old days. But I have found that the European sizes seem to vary... Life is so confusing and I'm going to have to buy some new shoes soon. Mine creak when I walk and they're no longer waterproof. Meanwhile, I'm finding that my 32" waist jeans are having trouble staying up but 32" waist suit trousers are rather uncomfortable. Are manufacturers playing free and easy with our Imperial measurements as well?
Hmmm.... this isn't very happy is it?

People are definitely much bigger generally I think and to feed the vanity of "us girls", I think they're allowing larger ladies to think they're in the smaller sizes. Hence the generous 10s and 12s. Shoes are different again. In this country I'm size 3. If they're little Italian/Spanish narrow ones I can be a 3 1/2 or a 4 - nowadays I just don't think about sizes any more either in clothes or shoes - I just keep trying things on till they fit me. Let's face it ladies, if you were bothered about anyone knowing what size you were you could always cut the label out.

I remember a time when I used to buy clothes without trying them on, I could trust the size given on the label. Not any more The result is I have sizes ranging from 8 to 12 in the wardrobe, yet they all fit me. Huh? I bought two pairs of trousers recently both, apparently, size 10, but one pair swamped me. Jeez!

Swamped by trousers-anotherof the dastardly Trinny and Susannah's gambits. Gleaned no doubt in the trouser swamps of the mekong delta.

It is difficult to shop because one has to keep trying things on. I don't like try things on. You put them on, take them back, put them on, take them back etc.
But on the other hand it is nice to get some new things to wear. I need some things for Summer. For some reason I don't have too many things to wear now. I love to shop when I have time. It is happy time to see different things and imagine what they will look like on me or other people.

I am practising too today. I am not playing Liszt at the moment, but I have plans. What pieces are you playing? I have Scarlatti, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, de Falla on a menue. I also play a few pieces by my friend.
